Commission: meets standards (7–0)

The Fourteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance unanimously agree, 7-0, with three commission vacancies, that Judge Brittany Schneider MEETS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS.

It was clear from the interview that Judge Schneider is a dedicated judicial officer and is an asset to the Court. Judge Schneider has settled into her role as the chief judge in the 14th Judicial District and continues to improve in her role as both chief judge and a district court judge. She works hard to serve the judiciary and earn the respect of those that appear in her courtroom. The Commission was disappointed by the lack of participation in the survey results and would encourage the public to participate in the future. Despite the nominal participation, survey results and comments reflect that Judge Schneider works hard to serve the judiciary and treat those that appear in her courtroom with respect. Judge Schneider handles a combined docket of domestic relations, civil, juvenile, and criminal matters. Judge Schneider continues to increase her knowledge and appears comfortable handling a diverse case load. Judge Schneider demonstrates integrity, legal knowledge, good communication skills, good judicial temperament, good administrative performance, and service to the legal profession and the public. Judge Schneider continues to improve in the area of timely issuance of written civil orders and remains committed to efficiency. The Commission is pleased that Judge Schneider has embraced virtual courtroom options to promote efficiency and accessibility of the Courts. However, the Commission encourages Judge Schneider to firmly enforce traditional standards of decorum during WebEx proceedings. Based on all the aforementioned considerations, the Judicial Performance Commission recommends that Judge Schneider meets performance standards.

The Commission personally interviewed Judge Schneider, observed her in Court, reviewed judicial performance data, several of her written orders, written comments from attorneys and non-attorneys, and a self-evaluation done by the Judge.

Judge Schneider was appointed as a judge to the 14th Judicial District Court in November 2023. She was appointed as chief judge in the 14th Judicial District in 2024. Previously, Judge Schneider was a Moffat County court judge in the 14th Judicial District. a deputy district attorney in the 14th Judicial District, assistant public defender in the Wyoming Office of the Public Defender, owner of the Law Office of Brittany Schneider, and deputy district attorney in the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
